Therapy is a confidential space to talk about whatever is on your mind without fear of judgement, being given unsolicited advice or worrying about burdening others. I am there to listen to you, to support you with whatever you are experiencing, and to facilitate change. I may ask questions or provide an alternative viewpoint at times, however the space is ultimately yours.
I might ask you to try different techniques or activities and review how these worked for you to help you develop a self-help tool kit. Alternatively, I may offer you things to read or watch to supplement the work we do together, but ultimately our sessions will be designed around you to ensure we work in an accessible and useful way for you.
Over time the aim is to give you a deeper understanding of yourself, gain insight into your reactions and your behaviours and to support you in changing these in healthy ways. We can’t always change our situation or the people around us, but we can work to change how we view and respond to them.
I run therapy sessions at the same time each week via video conferencing so you can access the session from anywhere private and comfortable for you. Alternatively I have limited spaces for face to face work in a quiet village location between Cambridge and Huntingdon. The sessions run for 50 minutes, and you do not have to commit to a particular number of sessions when we first start.
I have a level 4 Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling, as well as a Masters in Psychology from Anglia Ruskin University. I also engage in ongoing clinical supervision (see FAQs for further details) as well as relevant training in various therapeutic specialisms on an annual basis.
I am a qualified member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), as well as a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
